how to create an information model without using IDE

I need to create an information model but dont want to use the IDE services. Can u please tell me how to do that(an example would be better).do u have any document related to that(ie related to the build procedure and deployment of this model on the ASP)

Nitin,
Is there any specific reason for not using the IDE?
As of now there is no document which explains how to generate a model without using IDE.
